Identity fraud it rising

Property fraud is rising

And many owners don’t realise how vulnerable they are until it is too late.

Imagine discovering that:

  • Someone has taken a mortgage out against your property
  • Attempted to sell It
  • Used your identity to commit fraud

There are many scams going about. It sounds unbelievable but it’s true.

Fortunately, protecting yourself Is often easier than you think.

We have put together some top tips on how to  protect  your  biggest asset and your income.

  1. Register for HM Land registry property Alerts – you will  receive an alert if someone tries to change your  property’s details, it  will not stop fraud on its own, but it does allow you time to act.
  2. Add a restriction to your title – this makes it significantly harder for anyone to sell or mortgage your property without the involvement of a solicitor or conveyancer acting on your behalf.
  3. If your property is rented,  ask about out our Rent Guarantee insurance – even though the best  tenants can face unexpected financial difficulties it is worth being protected. Rent guarantee  insurance provides peace of mind should rental payment stop.

None of these measures are expensive compared to the cost of dealing with fraud or unpaid rent.

At Feliks Augustine, we help landlords protect both their properties and their income, not just when problems arise , but before they happen.
